چکیده

This paper presents the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of a primary surface heat exchanger (PSHE) with corrugated surfaces. The PSHE was experimentally investigated for a Reynolds number range of 156–921 under various flow conditions on the hot and cold sides. The inlet temperature of the hot side was maintained at 40 ̋C, while that of the cold side was maintained at 20 ̋C. A counterflow was used as it has a higher temperature proximity in comparison with a parallel flow. The heat transfer rate and pressure drop were measured for various Reynolds numbers on both the hot and cold sides of the PSHE, with the heat transfer coefficients for both sides computed using a modified Wilson plot method. Based on the results of the experiment, both Nusselt number and friction factor correlations were suggested for a PSHE with corrugated surfaces.

Effect of Corrugated Baffles on the Flow and Thermal Fields in a Channel Heat Exchanger

The performance of corrugated baffles inserted in a rectangular channel heat exchanger is investigated. The fluid flows and thermal distribution are determined via numerical simulations. The working fluid has a shear thinning behavior. The influence of the baffle design is explored, we interest to the “wavy” shape. The corrugation angle of baffle (α) is changed from 0° (i.e. a straight...

Water thickness effect on the fin efficiency and heat transfer for partially wet-surface heat exchanger

Heat and mass transfer, in this paper, is considered in one-row heat exchanger, that fins are hotter than air flow and water is added to fins. Related governing equations are derived by analyzing a two-dimension model in a unique cell of a heat exchange. These equations are numerically solved by finite difference method. Heat transfer and efficiency under partially wet surface are calculated by...

Investigating the effect of magnetic field on the forced convection of cross-corrugated triangular channels

Cross-corrugated triangular channels increase heat transfer in heat exchangers. The mixing effect increases the heat transfer coefficient at the surfaces. In this study, the fluid flow and heat transfer in a triangular corrugated channel are modeled under two constant heat fluxes and different Reynolds numbers. In order to validate, k-ω turbulence model is used. Also, the effect of magnetic fie...

Heat Transfer Analysis of Nanofluid in a Sine Wave Plate Heat Exchanger

Heat transfer is one of the most critical processes in the industry, and by increasing the efficiency of the heat exchanger, energy consumption of systems will be reduced. Very tiny particles in nanoscale dimensions, when uniformly dispersed and stably suspended in the base fluid, efficiently improve the thermal properties of the base fluid. With the help of nanofluids, the heat transfer rate i...
